Message from the artist:
My current artworks aim to explore the dynamics of intimacy, analysing the idea of closeness and connection. I draw inspiration from my relationships with others as well as an internal competing and complementary dialogue between my mind, body and spirit. Through my work, I accept my ambivalence and attempt to identify the accompanying emotions. I create work that embodies a visual diary composed of ideas of sexuality, the body, queer experience and memory. Much of my art stems from my experience being diagnosed with Polycystic ovarian syndrome, having my body change rapidly and without control made me reevaluate the relationship I had with my body and the value I decided it was worth in the context of sex and self-worth. Although my art can be interpreted as self-portraiture, I am more drawn to the interaction, the kinship and the connections that my work can provoke in others. Throughout my paintings, I evoke intimacy by using figure, abstraction, texture and colour.
